Tacet (pronounced tasset)- it is silent.
I have been searching for some time for a word to describe the image that I had in my mind and Tacet is the closest word I have found. There are many words in the English language to describe our external world, significantly less to describe our inner landscape. I have borrowed this word from the external world to describe what working on my breathing and my mental health has changed for me. I hope that it resonates with you too.
I wanted a word that describes the space between words, the gap that changes a sentence from a long string of letters that is hard to decipher into a piece of poetry. The space between the notes in a piece of music. Without the silence all the notes would play at the same time and create a noise rather than a symphony. Tacet is used in a musical score when parts of an orchestra are silent.
Without a gap between our thoughts our head is working overtime. (Thus creating anxiety, overwhelm, breakdown and immobilisation.) The silence and space is where the potential is.
Functional breathing created a space inside me which I now nurture. I now know this space allows growth.
So for me Tacet is the space between the thoughts that makes the theme tune of my own life more Stars Wars: A New Hope and less Jaws 1, 2 and 3 all at the same time!
Buteyko breathing course, teaches functional breathing. Functional and calming breathing at a very simplistic level is silent. Having silent breathing and a silent mind go together.
So with this in mind I have created Tacet Breathing. A practice that uses tools to create a silence inside and maintain your inner and outer health and well-being. I am excited to walk next to you on your own personal journey.
Tacet Breathing uses breathing practices rooted in the Buteyko method, journaling to support your progress and meditation to strengthen your mindset. The breathing practice supports silent breathing for a calm mind and tools available to you for the rest of your life.
